Whether you are looking for a home microbrewing operation or want to start a business, microbrewing actually requires very little effort. Microbrewing is different than normal beer production because it often produces a very limited quantity of beer. Learn how to make real, delicious beer from the comfort of your home after purchasing microbrewing equipment and ingredients.

Home Brew Kits

For people who want to get started on a home brewing operation, a home brew kit is the perfect solution. It normally contains several containers that are about 506 gallons in size. These containers have airlocks that let CO2 to escape. After the beer has been fermented, the kit has a few simple tools that help you to transfer it into bottles and put on caps. Most countries list home brewing as a completely legal activity as long as it is only for personal use.

Buying the Equipment on Your Own

Rather than purchasing a home brewing kit, you can make your own at home. If you have a large pot, you are well on your way to your own home brewing system.

Whatever pot you choose should hold a minimum of three gallons of liquid. This pot will be used to cook the ingredients before you allow it to ferment. For the fermenting process, you should buy a fermenter that holds at least six gallons. The extra space gives the foam an area to fill in as it ferments and creates your tasty brew.

After the fermenter, you will need some kind of plastic bucket or glass carboy as well as an airlock. The carboy or plastic bucket should be made according to food grade standards. High quality standards should also be searched for when buying an airlock. This piece of equipment is vital to the brewing process. It allows the carbon dioxide to leave the beer as it is airing out. After it is done airing out, you will need to have a siphon hose to siphon the beer out of the fermenter when it is done.

Instead of a fermenter, you could just purchase a bottling bucket. They are used for the same purpose as a fermenter except at the end of the fermenting process a bottling bucket has a spigot at the bottom for easy pouring. This spigot makes the process quicker and more efficient. It can also help to minimize spills and messes as you bottle your beer.

Before you start pouring your beer, make sure you have enough bottles or caps to hold it all in. For larger quantities, a keg can be extremely useful. Once everything is bottled, you can sit back and sip a cup of your own beer.

The process of microbrewing your own beer is simple and easy to figure out. Although you can purchase all of the equipment and ingredients separately, you can often get a discount by purchasing a home brewing kit. No matter what option you end up going with, the results are the same. Before long you will have a refreshing beer that was made at your own microbrewery.

Discovering new delicious beer recipes is what makes home beer brewing such a fun hobby. Not only can you discover great tasting new beers but you can tweak recipes and make a good beer taste even better. Making your own beer requires several different pieces of equipment and can range from low to high end prices. To simplify the process it may be easier to buy yourself a beer brewing kit.

The best way to find a good recipe is by searching online. There are lots of websites that provide a great list of beer recipes. Some even include a searchable directory and are categorized. Once you find a recipe that you want to try you will next need to gather the ingredients. If you intend on brewing your beer at home here are some common ingredients you will need and of course it all depends on what recipe you have picked out. The common ingredients are: water, malt extract and brewer’s yeast.

It’s usually the easiest to buy the ingredients online. You can usually find recipe packs with everything you need all bundled together. It’s a time saver and much easier to find those items online.

Here are a few recipes to get you started.

All Grain Porter

This recipes is based on Papazian’s “Silver Dollar Porter.” I suspect the difference in quality between this batch and an extract batch is going to be the difference between fresh-brewed coffee and instant. The wort had a much better hot and cold break than I’ve ever experienced using extracts, and it tasted better too.

Ingredients:

8 pounds, American 6-row (Klages) malt

1 pound, Munich malt

1/2 pound, crystal malt (90L)

1/2 pound, black patent malt

1/2 pound, chocolate malt

1/2 pound, roasted barley

1 teaspoon, calcium carbonate

1 ounce, Northern Brewer hops (boil)

1/2 ounce, Cascade hops (boil)

1/2 ounce, Cascade hops      (finish)

Whitbread ale yeast

American Wheat
Found this recipe at http://beerrecipes.org/showrecipe.php?recipeid=206

In this recipe, wheat made 27% of total grist. I would note that this beer was fermented warm (77F). The beer was very tart and had hints of cloves in the nose. I have also made an *American Wheat* (about year and a half ago) with wheat making 43% of the grist, fermented with Nottingham dry ale yeast at cooler temperatures (62F). This beer had the very same characteristics, tart with a hint of clove! I still believe that the yeast plays the greatest role in producing this clove character, but I believe that the wheat plays a large role in this flavor than generally accepted in homebrew circles. One final note, a group of brewer’s in my homebrew club did a not so scientific study of the affects of yeast. One yeast, EDME dry, produced a wheaty characteristic (though the beers brewed where not wheat beers).

Ingredients:

8 lbs pale 6-row

3 lbs wheat

1 oz N. Brewer (1 hour)

1/2 oz Hallertauer (1 hour)

1/2 oz Hallertauer (10 minutes)

Nottingham Dry Ale Yeast. ????

Making your own beer is a fun and creative hobby. With enough practice you become really good and making beer and at the same time impress your friends. Once you get the process down you will find yourself making little tweaks to some of your favorite beer recipes and discovering a great new tasting beer.

Brewing beer has already been a tradition for several centuries already and it actually started as a family activity during the BC era. As time passed, it has already become a popular drink for special occasions such as feasts and family bonding and is indeed a great thirst quencher.

In Europe, during the dark ages, beer was considered a part of a meal as it is a guaranteed clear drinking beverage compared to water, at that time. This made beer a very popular drink even during those times to the extent that most households have their own brewing equipment. Today, it is already uncommon to find a brewing equipment in every home as manufacturing beer is already commercialized.

Like refrigerators and microwaves ovens today, home brewing equipment is as common as it is before, until the 18th century. Beer was being brewed in the homes and as time passed, equipment such as hydrometers and thermometers were discovered, making home beer brewing easier and more efficient than ever.

Although home brewing is not as popular today as it was before, there are still some people who prefer to brew their own beer at home for several reasons. First is that with home brewing equipment, one can yield a larger quantity of beer for a lower cost compared to buying commercially prepared beer. Also, there are some countries which place a high tax on alcoholic beverages making them expensive to buy. There are also countries or states which highly prohibited home brewing.

Home brewing equipment allows one to create beer based on one’s preferences and taste by adjusting the ingredients and the fermentation time. You can even create beer with lower alcohol content as well as low calorie beers using a home brewing equipment. Brewing your own beer is fun, apart from the savings that you can make out of it; you can even sell your home brewed beer to your neighbors or friends for an additional income.

Self-brewed beer has become a popular choice nowadays which led to the popularity of microbreweries. Microbreweries are basically small scale producers of beers and liquor and this can be done even at the comfort of one’s home. Beer buffs have gained interest in this type of beer because it can be created based on one’s taste and preferences giving it a more personal taste and feel. As more and more people are getting hooked into this micro-brewery concept.

Embarking on a personal microbrewery either for personal or business purpose can pose some hurdles. First is that there are countries or states which prohibit microbreweries- to the extent that some laws are even passed against it. However, if this is not the case, then you are in for a fun experience in brewing your own beer. The next thing you should do is to buy yourself the necessary microbrewery equipment. This equipment can be bought from local brew stores or shops; or one can go online and look for cheap deals over eBay or similar websites.

Basically, you would need a large brewing pot- it can be just as any pot that you can find at a local store provided it could hold 3-4 gallons of beer. A ladle is also a must and preferably, it should be made of plastic or metal to lessen the risk of contamination. Apart from these, a fermenter is also required which should have an airtight lid. It is important to be sure that the fermenter is able to hold about 6-7 gallons of liquid to give allowance to the foam that will be produced in the process of fermentation. An airtight lid with lock is needed as well, to allow carbon dioxide to escape in the process of fermentation to avoid contamination of the end product.

A hydrometer and a thermometer are also important because it will track the specific gravity, temperature and density of the beer as well as its alcohol content. Bottling equipment is the next tool that you will need. Transferring the fermented beer to individual bottles has to be a little meticulous to prevent air from combining with the bottled beer, thus the need for siphoning. The transferred beer needs to be capped tightly in order to promote a longer shelf life.

Buying microbrewery equipment might seem a little costly at first but once you have already produced several batches of beers, it will surely cover up for your initial investment.

There are thousands of local breweries all across the U.S. Wouldn’t it be great to have these beers delivered right to your door step every month? Joining a Beer of the Month Club allows you to receive premium handpicked beers from local microbrews without having to travel all across the country. What an amazing concept, beer delivered right to your door step!

Original Hand Crafted Beer
Microbrews produce a limited amount of beer. These microbrews are small and are from local towns.. The beers are brewed using traditional methods but without the common ingredients in today’s commercial beers. The local breweries have a distinctive and flavorful appeal to them which is what makes them so popular.

Thousands of local                breweries
Great tasting, hand-crafted microbrews is one of the most exciting things that happened in the beer brewing industry in decades. Microbrews have been around for quite some time. Before prohibition, there was literally thousands of local breweries spanned the U.S, each crafting its own style with exceptional pride and attention to flavor, quality and freshness. Now, nearly one hundred years after the creative flow, the mass quantity of local breweries and the vanishing of many beer styles. America is finally experiencing a beer revolution. Before Prohibition, literally thousands of local breweries spanned the U.S., each honoring its own heritage with exceptional pride and attention to detail, quality, and freshness. Now, nearly one hundred years after the “noble experiment”, the mass consolidation of local breweries, and the vanishing of many beer styles, America is finally experiencing a beer renaissance

Certified Beer Judges
The beers that you receive are not just some random beers from some random pub. The beers are handpicked by certified beer judges. These judges have drunk a lot of beer so they pick only the cream of the crop. A beer of the month club is so you can experience some of the most highly rated beers that you will never find in your local liquor store. That is why certified judges only pick the best of the best so you will have the best drinking experience.

Beer Delivered straight to your Door
How awesome would it be to get beer delivered straight to your door. By joining a beer of the month club you will get exactly that. You will get twelve 12-oz beers, and two of our three service options offer at least four different styles, three bottles of each style. The beers selected are highly rated premium beers from microbreweries and brewpubs. You come home from a hard day at work and you find 12 delicious beers waiting for you on your door step. It’s like having Christmas every month; Santa’s delivering presents for grownups now!

Beer not found in Local Liquor Store
The benefit of a beer of the month club is that you will get the chance to try new beers that you will not find in your local liquor store. Some local stores do stock micro brews but it’s minimal to what is out there. Each month you will receive new beers that are served up daily from local across the U.S.

I highly recommend this beer of the month club and feel it would also make a great gift for those who are beer enthusiasts. For those that like to discover great new beers then a beer of the month club is the way to go. Expand your beer palette and enjoy 12 premium beers each and every month!

Cheers!

So you have decided you want to brew your own beer. That’s great, once you get the process down you will be experimenting and making your own beer right from your kitchen! While it can seem complex at first, the process is rather simple. The tools and supplies for beer brewing are pretty basic and are easily available. One of the easiest and quickest ways to get started is to buy a beer brewing kit. If you want to get more advanced and experiment more that you will want to pick up your own brewing equipment.

To begin brewing your first batch of beer there are a few things you will need to pick up. You will need a large pot, some type of clamp and tubing to filter, and a covered fermentor. Also you will need to pick up a thermometer to measure the temperature and of course you will need bottles for your batch of home brew. These bottles will need to be sterilized.

Once you have the required tools for the job, it’s time to look into the ingredients that will go into your first batch of beer. Malt extract, hops, ale yeast and some sugar is all it takes to make a basic beer. If you don’t have a local store that carries these types of ingredients, you can purchase them online. There are plenty of online sites that stock these special ingredients. You can also find a lot of recipes for brewing many different types of beers

The beer brewing process starts by boiling the hops and malt together. After it has been boiled, the mixture is cooled and the yeast is added in order to start the fermentation process. This mixture is then placed in the fermenting container and sites for several weeks. The final step into brewing your own beer is to add the sugar and filter it into sterilized bottles. Once bottled it will need to sit and age for at least 3 to 6 weeks.

When learning new things it always takes time to get the handle on things. This same principle applies in brewing your own beer. If you don’t have much success on your first batch of beer, no big deal you can always try again. There a lot of things that can go wrong in the brewing process so it takes practice to get it right. One important thing to remember is to always keep your brewing equipment clean and sterilized. Bacteria can be introduced anywhere along the brewing process. Once you get a few batches made you may want to experiment with the ingredients. The ingredients can be altered to change the flavor of you home brew. It’s also a good idea to take notes during the brewing process, that way if you make mistakes you can look at your notes to see what might of went wrong. After you brew your own beer several times, you will be brewing beer for all your friends.

Brewing your own beer is fun and a great hobby to learn. The process is simple and the supplies can be easily found and affordable. It’s a hobby that you can always expand on and continue to learn new things. It’s a hobby that will not only fun for you but your friends will enjoy it to as they drink your delicious homebrew.

If you have ever wanted to brew your own beer than you probably have asked the question, what equipment do I need to brew my own beer? Just like most hobbies, you can start out simple and inexpensive. Or you can spend a great deal of money and have the high end equipment. I would always recommend starting out with something basic and as your get better at making beer expand to something more advanced. Both will provide you with a great tasting beer, as your brewing supplies expand so will your beer.

So I’m going to make an assumption that you’re going to start with something small and work your way up. You will need to know what type of home brewing supplies is needed and where you can purchase these items. You may be able to find brewing supplies in a local shop. If not do not worry there are large selections of online retailers that sell home brewing supplies as well as beer brewing kits. For something small the supply list is minimal and should not cost you more than a hundred dollars. Here is a list of supplies you will need in order to start brewing your own beer.

* Fermenter bucket with lid
* bottling bucket with spigot
* Fermentation lock
* bottle capping tool
* bottle caps
* racking tube
* siphon tube
* bottle brush
* hydrometer
* equipment cleaner
* bottles

Once you have all the equipment purchased the only thing left are the ingredients. Again this is something you can find online. Most online retailers carry a large selection of recipes with ingredients that guaranteed to produce a great tasting batch of beer.

The last thing you are going to need is the ingredients to put into your beer kit! Again the retailers carry a wide assortment of recipes with the ingredients pre-measured and almost guaranteed to produce a quality batch with each brew!

One important thing to remember is to keep your home brewing supplies well sanitized. Even if they are not really part of your beer brewing supplies, they are obviously necessary to keep your items clean and reusable.

In sum, home beer brewing can be a fun hobby to start… but before you can start brewing your first batch of beer you will need to obtain the right supplies for the job.

Bottling your homebrew is probably the worst part of the brewing process. It’s a time consuming and tedious task. If you’re not a fan of the bottling process then kegging your homebrew is the next best option. So you may be wondering, what type of keg do I need? How do I keep it sanitized and what equipment do I need. In this article I will list out all the equipment needed for you home kegging system.

Buying kegging equipment is not a simple process. To make things easier I would recommend starting out with a 5 gallon soda keg. They are easy to clean, fill up, and much easier to find then the commercial beer kegs. Be prepared to spend a little money on your kegging equipment. This is because the system requires specialized equipment such as Co2 tanks and hoses. Here is a complete list of what you will need to complete you own homebrew keg.

Stainless Steel Soda Keg: New kegs can cost around $100, if you shop around you can find a used one for as little as $25. One thing to be sure of is that your keg holds pressure and is sealed properly.

Soda kegs come in two types of fittings, ball or pin lock. The difference is in the configuration of the valve connection that allows pressurized gas to flow into the valve until you depress it. The less expensive of the two is the pin lock configuration.

Pressurized dioxide tank regulator: Look to spend around $75 to $125 on a pressurized tank. To refill the tank it will cost another $15 to $20 each time it needs to be refilled.

Carbon dioxide tank regulator: It’s best to look for a dual gauge regulator. You want a dual gauge regulator because a single gauge only tells you the pressure of the gas flow. The dual gauge regulator shows the gas flow pressure and also shows the line pressure.

Carbon dioxide hose line: You can find this pretty cheap for about $1 per foot.

Beer dispenser line with a tap faucet: This one is also pretty cheap, look for these at about $10.

Sanitizing agent: Go with lodopher or another iodine based sanitizer, depending on the size the price varies $2 to $10. You want to be careful when it comes to sanitizing stainless steel. Chlorine can eat away the surface at high concentrations or over an extended period of time. If you end up using bleach (which is not recommended) use only 1 ounce per 5 gallons.

Screwdriver and adjustable wrench: This is something you may already have at home. If not they can be found at most hardware stores.

Cleaning brush: You can pick these up at any local hardware store for a cheap low price.

The Beer Machine is a fermenter, conditioning vessel and dispenser all in one. It’s about as easy as making a cup of coffee. The beer machine looks like a keg with a tap. You simply put in beer mix and water, add yeast, close it and let it ferment. After 3 days you put it in your refrigerator for 5 days to clarify. The cold will help make all the sediments drop to the bottom. What you get after clarification is a great tasking beer. The beer that comes out is really good, and if you follow the instructions it’s hard to screw it up.
